Search (SEO)

People search every day for “sell CS2 skins” and “where to sell Dota 2 skins”. If your domain and articles are found for these queries, visits come without ads. SEO works slowly, but delivers the cheapest and steadiest traffic.

How it works#

A search engine shows the pages that best answer the query. Your job is for the engine to see the domain, understand its topic and consider it useful.

The result is not instant: first positions appear in 1–3 months, steady traffic after about half a year. It is an investment.

Basic setup#

  1. The domain is connected and opens
Check that the site is reachable over https without errors. See Adding a domain›.
  2. Search Console
Verify the domain and request indexing following the instructions in the Google› section.
  3. Yandex Webmaster
If you work for a Russian-speaking audience, add the domain to Yandex Webmaster too.
  4. Name and heading
In Design› enter the site name and a main-page heading with a key phrase — both visitors and the search engine see them.

Queries#

Choose queries that people really search for and where you can answer better than others.

Commercial

“sell CS2 skins”, “sell Dota 2 skins”, “skin buyout”.

Informational

“how to sell skins and withdraw money”, “how much is a skin worth”, “how to appraise an inventory”.

Comparisons

“where is it more profitable to sell skins”, “skin buyout or marketplace”.

Problems

“how to withdraw money from Steam”, “why is a skin on hold”.

How to find queries
  • Search suggestions as you type: what is suggested is what people search for.
  • The “Related searches” block at the bottom of results.
  • Free query statistics tools from search engines.
  • Questions on forums — see Forums and Reddit›.

What to publish#

One page — one query. Guidelines:

  • Guides. “How to sell CS2 skins step by step” — 1,500–3,000 characters with examples and screenshots.
  • Breakdowns. “Hold in CS2: what it is and how long to wait” — useful for problem queries.
  • Comparisons. “Buyout or marketplace: which is better” — honest pros and cons of both ways.
  • FAQ. Short answers to common questions with “question — answer” markup.

Articles can live on your own blog on a separate site with a link to the service domain, or in a matching section if you have one.

Page structure#

  • A title up to 60 characters, the key phrase at the start.
  • A description of 120–160 characters with the benefit and a call.
  • One first-level heading, then subheadings by meaning.
  • Short paragraphs, lists and tables instead of solid text.
  • Fast loading and a proper look on a phone: more than half of searches come from mobile.

The more good sites link to yours, the higher the search engine’s trust. Get links honestly:

  • Guest articles on topic blogs.
  • Mentions in reviews and service roundups.
  • Profiles in catalogs and on community platforms.
  • Useful materials that people themselves want to reference.

Timing#

PeriodWhat to expect
1–2 weeksPages get into the search index
1–3 monthsFirst positions for rare queries, first visits
3–6 monthsGrowth for more competitive queries
6+ monthsA steady flow with regular updates

What to watch#

  • Impressions, clicks and positions for queries in Search Console.
  • Which pages bring people and which of them reach a request.
  • Queries where you are in places 5–15: they are the easiest to lift to the top.

Common mistakes#

  • Copying other people’s texts — the search engine demotes such pages.
  • Keyword stuffing: the text reads badly and gets punished.
  • Buying thousands of cheap links: a risk of sanctions.
  • Quitting after a month, before results arrive.
